Prakash AR – Perceive More by Seeing Less
A mixed reality system that removes or enhances spatial frequencies in the user’s visual field in real time. We built high- and low-pass visual filters to investigate whether emphasizing particular features could help children learning to see after treatment for congenital blindness.
While piloting the system, we noticed that removing visual information could make other parts of the environment easier to notice and appreciate. This became “Perceive More by Seeing Less,” a diminished reality experience shared at the MIT Museum in September 2024.
